Creating & Managing Custom Permission Groups

Overview

Hyperscience comes with a set of default permission groups. In addition to those, you can create custom permission groups.

Creating custom permission groups

If you want to create a custom permission group, follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to Users > Permission Groups.

  2. Click on the Add Permission Groups button in the upper right corner.

  3. Enter the group name and click Next; this will create a new user group.

  4. Click on the new user group. Then, under the Access Permissions section on the left-side column, click Edit, then select the permissions this group should have.

    • Click on the + button to add the selected permission to this group.

  5. Once you are satisfied with the selection, click Save

Viewing, editing, and deleting custom permission groups

  1. Go to Users > Permissions Groups.

  2. Click on the group name from the table.

    • The details page that appears will show you the external authentication groups or the list of users who belong to the custom group; this page will also show you the permissions for this custom group.

  3. Click on Edit.

    • If using an external authentication provider, you can edit the list of authentication groups that should be automatically added to this permission group. Alternatively, if using native authentication, you can edit the list of users associated with the permission group.

    • You can edit the list of permissions this group should have.

    • Click on Delete to delete the custom group.

    • Default permission groups cannot be deleted.
