Retraining Existing Models

Retraining a Field or Table ID model is not necessary if one, or some combination, of the following properties were changed in an existing field’s settings:

  • Field name

  • Output name

  • Supervision

  • Required

  • Identification Supervision

Field ID models

Field ID models do not need to be retrained if any of the following layout changes are made:

  • Removing fields

  • Changing data types

  • Adding new fields or toggling existing fields’ Multiline setting

    • If you use existing training data to retrain a model with new fields or fields whose Multiline setting is updated, those fields are not included in the training. Those fields are unsupported until you retrain the model with enough documents that include annotations of the new or updated fields.

Table ID models

Table ID models do not need to be retrained if any of the following layout changes are made:

  • Removing fields

  • Changing data types

On the other hand, Table ID models will need to be retrained after the following layout changes:

  • Adding new fields

  • Toggling the Multiline setting
